A 4-Week Course with Karen van Vuuren
What does it take to approach and then cross the threshold with greater peace?
While none of us who dies a natural death knows exactly what our experience of death will be nor the exact circumstances, there is an understanding of how death can look, and a wisdom of death and dying we can embrace.
Much of this, Karen van Vuuren learned over two decades of working with holistic and natural deathcare, including research for two hospice documentaries on end-of-life, Dying Wish (a dying doctor’s decision to stop eating and drinking), and Go in Peace! (caring for veterans with PTSD at the end of life).
This course offers both a practical understanding of the journey towards death, the routes and the resources, as well as a philosophical inquiry into how to arrive at the portal with preparation and consciousness, to better support peaceful transition.
Topics include:
- What is Death?
- The Dying Process
- Hospice and Palliative Care
Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) and Voluntary Stopping of Eating and Drinking (VSED)
- Ready to Die: An Existential Inquiry into Achieving Peaceful Transition
- Your Role Supporting the Other
Note: This course does not cover advanced health care and funerary directives
